Days 4 & 5

We toured the Kagithane District, which is where the neighborhood we’ll be working in is located. It’s effectively a suburb, not sure how well it’s served by public transportation. It has a history of being the area where the aristocratic Ottomans went to hunt and play. We also met with people from teh municipality who gave a presentation about city planning and land use in the district.

The central part of the district is a small river valley that was redirected and regraded many years ago. It serves to visually connect the old mosque (which is still there) to the palace.
